Naftuli Moster - Executive Director
Naftuli Moster is the Executive Director of Yaffed. He grew up in Borough Park and attended Hasidic Yeshivas (elementary and high schools). In 2012 he founded Yaffed after discovering the gaps in his and his friends’ elementary and high school education. Moster graduated Suma Cum Laude with a BA in psychology from the College of Staten Island and went on to receive a Master’s in social work from Hunter (CUNY).
Scott Lavery - Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs
Scott Lavery is Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs with Yaffed. He received his Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in professional communications from the State University of New York at Farmingdale and his Master of Arts in public policy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Before joining Yaffed, Scott worked in the New York State Senate for four years. In his spare time, he sometimes volunteers with Island Harvest, a Long Island-based food bank.
Hannah Miller - Director of Community Engagement and Organizing
Hannah Miller is Yaffed's Director of Community Engagement and Organizing. Born in Seattle, she moved to New York City to attend Barnard College, where she received a BA in Russian Regional Studies. Her professional experiences with Family-to-Family, Inc., the JDC, and The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany brought her to Ukraine, Israel, the Baltics, the United Kingdom, and, most frequently, to diverse communities across the five boroughs. She received her MA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 2018.
Abe Silberstein - Strategic Communications Associate
Abe Silberstein is Yaffed's Strategic Communications Associate, where he works on projects ranging from the organization's media presence to fundraising. Abe was born in Brooklyn and attended Yeshivas through High School. He graduated from Hunter College in 2015 with a B.A. with honors in Political Science and is currently studying for his M.P.A. at New York University. An experienced opinion writer, Abe's work has been published in the New York Times, The Forward, Ha'aretz, and The Jerusalem Post.
